Macedonia Resident who attended school in Mogadore, Ohio, Class of 1935.Born Jan. 5,1917-Died Oct. 9, 1944. Carlin "Curly" early in life trained as a pilot and worked at Sky Haven Airport with the early pioneer barnstormer/racing pilot, "Slim" Honroth, training many local residents in the art of flying. He roomed at the time with Darwin Ozmun's grandmother in the Boston Heights area and later in Macedonia, where he lived with his wife Rae. He spent his early Air Corps years ferrying planes to Africa and later flew "Over the Hump" carrying ammunition to the China-Burma-india theater of operations. He was killed on October 9, 1944, when his aircraft blew-up over Accra (Akkra), Capital of Ghana on the Gold Coast of. Africa. Carlin was 27 years old when he died. 

He left his wife, the former M. Rae Nine, who later became Mrs. Orville Stebner. Orville was also an Air Corps pilot in WW II. Rae now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona and is an active member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries.
