RODERICK GILLIS JR

Macedonia Resident who attended school in Macedonia, Class of 1942. Rod, who was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Gillis of Macedonia, left school to join the service, first in the ROTC, and later as a Sgt. in the Infantry. He was killed in the Battle of the Bulge, the last German offensive of the war in 1944, when he stepped on a land-mine and was killed instantly.Rod was only 20 years old when he died. 

He left his childhood sweetheart and wife, the former Margaret Eppard, Macedonia Class of 1945. He also left behind his loving mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Gillis Sr. Mr. Gillis was a WW I Veteran. Margaret later became Mrs. Horlacher and resides in Goleta, Calif.
